Lord, please forgive me (concerning the Model 12)

My two favorite shotguns are the Ithaca 37, and the Winchester Model 12, with my Remington 31s coming in a very close second. I could never warm up to the 870, much to the disappointment of my buddies who wouldn't shoot anything but 870s.

The 1200 should have been hung around the neck of the engineers who designed it while they were bound and thrown in a duck swamp used only by owners of original .model 12's happily shooting ducks over their cursed heads. I am still looking for my first model 12 in 16 gauge. I grew up shooting a 20 gauge Ithica deerslayer with as we called it a rat tail forearm aka corn cob Forearm. I miss that gun. It probably killed more grouse and woodcock than deer. Blasphemers indeed.

I had one. I had nothing but problems with FTF and FTE. Ok...might have just had a M 12 with "issues". I currently have one now that got worked over by a gunsmith. No cycling problems but I just can't warm up to the corncob forend and don't like the sighting plane. I know it's supposed to be the "perfect repeater", forever and ever, amen. My apologies to Thomas Crosley Johnson. You created a wonderful shotgun, just not my shotgun. I feel far more comfortable with a Mossberg 500, Maverick 88, or Remington 870 than with any Model 12 I have ever handled. And I grew up with a Winchester 1200 and a Springfield 67C.Am I being a shotgun heathen or have some kind of "condition"? LOL
I had another brand/model that people swear by. A Remington Model 31 that was nothing but problems from the day I picked it up until the day it was traded in on an 870 wingmaster. So don't apologize to the likes of me, a fellow heathen.
