Lyman "Quick Slick"... save your money

No, I didn't say it wouldn't function as a non-stick coating.
It does both, through the formation of a boundary layer.
Put it in a pan and viola; a non-stick coating. Put it between your fingers and rub; a lube. Any fat or oil will do that - lard, butter, olive oil, etc. (Motor oil would work in a pan as well, just don't eat the results; some are better at one function over the other.)
I assume you’re speaking from experience and use PAM regularly as part of your regular reloading process. Right?

Because I'm cheap as well as grumpy.
Cheap I understand.....I resemble that.........grumpy......I would be that way if I were trying to lube my hand gun brass......see my apology and comments at the end of this post.
Never used Quick Slick but have used One Shot. Learned early on you have to spray 360 degrees and in a downward direction to get some in the case mouth (unless you graphite the mouth with a q-tip). Also learned you have to let the spray completely dry before sizing.
As I said, no experience with QS so YMMV.
What a smart poster. (LOL)
One Shot works well for straight walled pistol but not so good for rifle. At least for me anyway. ...........
???????
The .41 Magnum is a straight wall case. Why don't you just use a carbide die?
Yes ☝️☝️☝️☝️

Sorry for my first post. Thought Col H was discussing rifle rounds.....getting old and read so fast I miss stuff....see my signiture LOL.
When it comes to straight wall brass = carbide dies......no reason not to....any thing else is a waste of your time.

On rifle brass I only now use One Shot (see my instructions on its use in first post).
Anyone want some unused ink pads (bought a bunch on ebay years ago)?

I do wipe down all my re-sized and loaded rifle rounds with a paper towel and a bit of alcohol to remove any excess lube.

Pam cooking spray works dandy as a patch lube in my blackpowder rifle. I have no interest in using it in any other shooting application.
Never thought of that.
The only PAM my wife buys is for baking. Imagine my surprise when I decided to try using cooking spray on cases. 😳

BTW, PAM for baking has flour in it. 🤬😩

I have tested it, along with furniture polish, car wax, coconut oil, corn oil, and a few other things I see people post or theories that occur to me. I have a spare .223 sizing die for for such experiments, which won't be missed if it needs to go in for stuck case removal. It hasn't yet.
It works. I can't imagine it's substantially different to the olive oil someone else wrote about in this thread, which I will probably test at some point.
As to regular? No. It's just aerosol vegetable oil and that'd mean individually wiping off each case, too much work.
"Works" isn't the same as "favorite". As it happens, Hornady One Shot is my favorite.

OK, yeah, the PAM with flour in it wouldn't be something I'd test... :oops:
I tested the regular stuff, too. Not my favorite smell and I found if I let it sit overnight it stained the brass and was hard to wash off. And it just doesn’t work as well as unadulterated oils. Like I said, it is made to coat metal, not lubricate it. Secondary uses may be effective but not terribly efficient.

And it costs more than sewing machine oil so, why pay more for less?

I’ve tried just about every lube on the market, Imperial wax as well as the lanolin mix, and what I use now is 1 ½ oz of Hornady LIQUID one shot (not the wasteful aerosol) mixed with 12 oz of red Iso-Heet. The liquid does not affect primers or powder, no post-lube cleaning required. Just a couple sprays in a ziplock bag, shake, let the alcohol evaporate for 15 minutes, and reload. Leaves a nice slick (NOT sticky) coating on the brass that stays for weeks stored in another ziplock. How I came about this is another story, but everyone who has tried this agrees it works great.

Lee liquid ALOX . . . .
...as a bullet lube ?
Absolutely superb -- when applied correctly
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hint when ALOXing
- Put (very) small dab of Liq ALOX on thumb forefinger -- just "greasy"
- Rotate sized bullet between fingers to grease it up. (you don't need excess/fill groove... just "greased")
- Place on dinner plate upright as you grease each one
- Throw in oven at 225 for 20 mins -- allow to cool overnight.
Load/Shoot next day
Wow, this thread has gone some crazy directions! Am I the only one here that lubes cases with, well, case lube??? I don't recall the brand but it's the alcohol/lanolin in a spray bottle variety and works marvelously.
You don't come to a case lube reloading thread for sound life advice.... 🤣 I'm lame I just use Redding sizing wax. I tried lanolin but I only want to clean once. Any solution that requires a second cleaning is a no go for this guy. On a side note I am looking at the Johnsons paste wax across the garage pondering.... how good will that work 😅
Oh wait. I also have one of those little tubs of Hornady Unique lube. I use it when I'm sizing just a few cases.
I don't understand the "only want to clean once." comment. I spray lube my cases in a cardboard box, size, trim, ream then throw them in the vibratory cleaner for a couple of hours (unless they're filthy, then they get the liquid cleaning). They only get cleaned once.
I decap and wet tumble them perfectly clean. Not cleaning them again.... I polish the redding wax and it helps protect the case.... never have owned a vibratory cleaner... most people complain about even wet cleaning once.... why do it twice????
Wait.....you decap, wet tumble, then lube them so they can be sized? What do you do about the lube on the clean cases?
Guys … Bag Balm for the win. Cheap, readily available, moisturizes while you work, and smells good to. Trust me. Try it and your wife or girlfriend will let you reload even more. I promise.
I agree Bag Balm works very well , use it on a RCBS lube pad and also put some on a few (3 or 4) patches in a container drop shells in , cover, shake and your good to go.
Lotta you guys have been fluffing OneShot, so I wandered over to Bass Pro and didn't find any... but they did have a pump spray bottle of RCBS juice. I'm overjoyed (see avatar, that's my happy face) to report it works where the Lyman stuff failed. Spurt it on, wait 10 minutes, get to work. Comes off with Simple Green and hot water. That's enough typing for now.
