Has anyone seen or fired S&Ws new Shield in 45ACP? I saw one review on YouTube that was highly supportive of the new pistol. Any comments would be appreciated. I have a full sized 45 M&P which I like and may consider buying the new Shield.
I just saw this post so I thought I would tell you about the one I just bought. On the range trip yesterday, I started with 230 gn FMJ federals, then several mags of 230 FMJ and 185 gn hand loads from Magnus. No problems. I then tried some 185 gn LSWC hand loads from Missouri Bullets. Again, no problems. Finally, I fired a mag of 185 gn Hornady Critical Defense. Accuracy was good and felt recoil was a little less than I expected. I got the model with the thumb safety because that is what I am accustomed to. When I first started carrying, some three decades ago, my carry gun was a 1911 locked, cocked with the thumb safety engaged. Thumbing the safety off after acquiring a target is a habit I learned in training. The only negative thing, very minor, is the texture of the grip is a bit too aggressive in my opinion. I plan to add a set of Talon rubber grips in the future. I've already ordered a holster from Hidden Hybrid.Has anyone seen or fired S&Ws new Shield in 45ACP? Wait, there is a 45 Shield now? I must get to the LGS to check this one out. I really like my Shield 40.
It was strange, but then the .45 version is about 1/4" taller. It's very obvious when you grab them. I can easily get a 3 finger grip on flush mag .45.The irony is they both have the same round capacity.
