M&P shield plus 9mm - good , bad or eh

THE HIGHEST qualification scores I have ever got with a handgun were with an M&P Shield.

If I had nothing and needed a gun I would seriously consider a Shield Plus

But I'm not willing to purchase one when I already have other guns that feel the same space

It's the perfect carry gun.

There. I said it.

I can't say mine is perfect, it would be a lot closer to perfect if the barrel wasn't ported. That ported barrel makes an awful mess inside the gun after 100 rounds. I can't see where it helps enough to want it as an option.
Otherwise it's solid.

It's a really good carry gun and a very good all purpose pistol as well. For pure carry I prefer my taurus gx4. My shield had rust problems with the rear sight and the frame roll pin. I'm not seeing those problems with my gx4.

I have the Shield Plus with the 3.1 inch barrel and another with the 4 inch barrel from the Performance Center. I previously had magazine issues as the nose of the bullet would jam at the bottom of the feed ramp. Their customer service confirmed they had a bad batch of springs and followers and sent new ones, which corrected the problem. I was at the range yesterday with the one with the 4 inch barrel. It's impressive all around, especially the accuracy and trigger.

The regular Shield is more concealable, but the Shield Plus is fine (mine is in .45ACP). No complaints at all. Does what it's supposed to do pretty well.
They are almost identical in size with the plus being very slightly thicker in grip width.
Making them the same as far as concealment is concerned.
I have yet to see a Shield Plus in .45 acp , I do not think they make them in .45 acp.

Its the last excellent semi auto pistol Smith and Wesson has made both in performance and aesthetics. Since then its been downhill IMO. It could be better but I wouldnt change much about the Shield Plus. One of the very best subcompacts out there right now and its been vetted.

Never shot a Shield 45acp. The 40S&W was a bit LIVELY in my hand but I only put a couple magazines through it. Nothing anyone couldnt get use to though unless you have some medical issues.

get one now because if they come out with another version it will be ugly as sin LOL.

I am more than happy with the price, quality, accuracy, comfort, concealability and have no regrets on buying mine.

All I can say is that I LOVE mine!
I did some scouting yesterday with mine and forgot I had it on, and that was while also wearing a waist pack and belt knife.
I was wearing it at five’O clock inside the waistband.

I carry my Shield+ with the factory-mounted red dot every day. I mostly use an OWB paddle holster (Blackhawk!), but also a Kydex IWB holster for when I just wear a polo shirt.
With the dot sight it cuts one five-shot hole at 25 feet with Gold Dot ammo. Never had a malfunction.
I've been carrying daily for almost 30 years and have to say the Shield+ is the best carry gun I've tried.
