M&P15A--need some advice from you AR gurus!

I want to mount an Aimpoint. My M&P15 has the standard front sight. What is the best mount combo? I don't really care about quick release--I just want it to co-witness with my troy BUIS. What is the best setup?


I would like to mount a short fixed stock. What are the best options? I am also considering the Magpul CTR. How can I tell if the M&P15 is "milspec?"

I would like a smaller front hand-guard. I don't want a rail system, since I will never need one. However, I would like a slim CAR style hand-guard with a short rail for mounting a flashlight. Does anybody make this?

The Magpul CTR is an excellent choice. Since the S&W is basically a Stag Arms gun there is a good chance the buffer tube is mil-spec.

You might want to check just to be sure. My friend has a RRA AR and we were under the assumption that since CMT makes a good potion of RRA's parts that his buffer tube was mil-spec and not commercial. We were wrong. We tried to put my CTR on his rifle (very nice buttstock BTW. Way better that the stock peice), it wouldn't fit. Magpul makes CTR's for both types.
