I test fired and paid for my SWD/Cobray m11a1 today. Performed flawlwssly with one mag, 2nd had worn feed lips and doubled.

I was suprised that it did not seem to run that much faster (20-30%) than the dealer's pre-'86 sample MP-5 which I got to play with. I could actually do controlled bursts. It was certainly not twice as fast. It did not sound like the buzz gun videos I see on youtube.

No obvious work done to slow it down. I did not count spring turns, but anything else would probably be obvious.

It's going to be a long 15+ months.

Any chance you have a heavier than normal bolt? That could slow the cyclic rate.

And I hear you on the wait. I'll be submitting another form 4 for a 9mm suppressor on Monday...

dont know a whole lot about machine guns, but it could have possibly been underpowered ammo...less recoil impulse will move the bolt slower

I would guess your gun either has a heavy bolt or a rate reducing buffer with the right combination of bolt, buffer and ammo you can cut the M11 cyclic rate in half.

I know I had to knock the dust off this thread but about 6 post down KingTiger says he has 4 different bolts that will change cyclic rate from 1200 to 500 rpm. Personally I did not know you could get it that slow I have only seen 625/650.

Addition of a suppressor will also speed action up a little bit with help from some back pressure.

These guns are ammo sensitive in the since that you can move your ROF according to how hot the ammo is. Also using multiple buffers or a MACJACK will bump up your ROF. It is normally a good idea to add a new buffer when you get a new to you mac.

If your recoil spring is worn out from the gun being left cocked over time that can slow down the gun. Also if your upper is bent or just tight around the bolt causing it to start rubbing that will slow the gun. Some mags will rub on the bolt and rob energy as well.

If you want to bump the RPM as 2 - 3 buffers in the upper, use hot ammo and add a silencer. Some people polish and NP3 coat parts to get the insanely high ROF you see on Youtube.

Winchester white box 380. Slow is good, just wondering why :)
I am going to do most of my play with a MAX-31A upper.

Mike

PS. Isn't the MACJACK (which works mostly by shortening the stroke) only for the 11/9 not the 11a1?
PPS. Can anyone confirm that the SWD m11a1 uses the longer 10/9 magazine and not the Mac 11 mags? What are my metal mag options?
