I've got an itch to get an M24/47. I already have an M48, which is a similar rifle. So I'm curious what y'all think. Personal experiences?

My M48 is a solid enough rifle, but I'll have to either scope it or put on some Mojo sights if I want to hit anything with it. The stock sights are so far off that they're no good.

Thoughts? Jokes?:D

Should I expect better results from the M24/47?

I have both an M48 and an M24/47 and they are different in many subtle ways. I put a scout scope on my M48 just for the heck of it, but when I want to shoot off iron sights, I use the M24/47. I like the straight bolt too :)

They're cheap enough now, you might as well get one!

I like mine very much, alot smoother bolt than my M48. Also, the stock seems to be more ergonomic. If you decide to get one, check the left side of the receiver. Mine still has some faint markings from F.N..

Shane,

I don't know if you have Big 5 sporting good stores in Utah, but they currently have M24/47s for $99. Can't beat it. I also have a Czech VZ-24, the rifle the M24 is patterned after. They are very similar, but shoot differently. So yeah, whenever you can get another Mauser at a good price, go for it!
