Hey all,

Anyone experience trigger slap on an M44? Took mine to the range for the first time today. Shot around 60 rds. My finger hurts worse than my shoulder! Is that a normal thing for a MN?

Trigger slap is when a semi-/full auto bolt rides over the hammer and the action of cocking the rifle transmits through to the finger.

Not sure what it is that you are experiencing. None of my mil-surp bolties, including any of my MNs, hurt my finger. Sure it isn't just a sharp edge rubbing on your finger during recoil?

You may be correct - looking at the trigger I see that the left side of it has a nice defined (not quite sharp) edge, while the right side is more rounded and smooth. Looks like it was made that way - one side rounded for all the right handed Russian conscripts. Just looked at my other M44 that I bought for my dad - same deal.

I shoot left handed so I think my finger is right on that edge.

Hmmmmm, how to fix without causing any damage to my all matching #'s M44?

Guess I could file it smooth or maybe dremel and then reblue it.
