On Sunday I took my M44 Nagant out for its first run at the range. My first rifle was a 91/30, and I love shooting it, so when I found a M44 for $88, I had to buy it.

I limited my shooting to the 50 yard range. The 100 yard was full of AR guys and gals. On my first shot, everyone looked up wondering who brought the cannon. :D A couple of shots was all it took to sight it in, and I was getting a hand sized group within the first 10 shots.

The M44 didn't kick nearly as hard as I thought it would. I'm thinking that this is going to be my new favorite rifle.

Yeah i get looks from shooting my m44 all the time. Mainly cause of the massive report and muzzle blast. Fun little rifles. Now all you need is a boat load of ammo and you're set.

You should have gone over and shot with the AR guys. I find ARs loud and muzzle-blasty especially when the one guy at the range with a muzzle break equipped CAR comes over to shoot next to my son & I while we're peacefully plinking with our 22s.

Never mind the other multiple empty positions on the firingline.....

I may have to get a M44 just to keep pace with the AR fellas :)

Best of luck with the M44.

yes i love my M44, and LOVE to take it with me to the range. i almost always just sit and plink at 50yards with my .22, but when some dork sits down to blast away with a 300 win mag next to me with a angles muzzle brake i bust out the M44. needless to say after torching off a round or two right as he is getting ready to torch one off, they move on down the line.

now don't get me wrong, but common, im shooting a .22 that sounds like a air rifle and your gonna sit down next to me with that dam thing when there is plenty of room down range with the other hi-caliber rifles. ahh well.
