I was talking to one of my local gun store guys today and the subject came up that I had recently purchased 10 more 30 rd P-Mags. He said that if AWB II or something similar gets passed, those mags will probably be worth $60.00 or more. He said that was what he saw happen to high cap mags after the first AWB. Even if they don't pass AWB II I can see them passing high cap mag restrictions and trying to say "See, that's not so bad". :cuss:

Anyone else hedging their bets and stocking up on Mags?

Nope.

Absolutely not.

NukemJim

PS I already did that after the AWB expired.:D But I am buying a Saiga 12 prior to 1-20-09 (carefully avoiding politics)

This is one of the rare instances in which it is in your best interest to make sure you do everything you can to make sure that your purchase does not gain such value. :)

Yep. :)

I suffered through the last AWB without being able to purchase hi cap mags.

Won't happen again. ;)

I already got 20 PMags. I dont think I need anymore.

If there is another ban then i'll just have more money to spend on modding my car.

Of course they could just as easily prohibit transfers of such magazines like the CA state ban does.
Making them worth far less.

Exactly. What people don't realize is that the people that enacted the first ban were smart enough to see how the firearms makers and suppliers worked around the first one. By assuming that the next ban (if there even is one) will be an exact mirror of the first is foolish beyond belief.

All those grandfather clauses and less-than-specific language that allowed the loopholes to be exploited? No more.

This is my thought. That being said, I still plan to have as many as will last me for my lifetime, or at least until it would expire.

I sometimes tend to be a chicken little. So I'm planning on having a full online shopping cart on the evening of Nov. 4. As soon as I hear any bad news I'm hitting "submit order".

Not really..........but I will admit it's crossed my mind.

You call them "smart enough" and, at the same time, imply that they think it's a good idea to actively steal the invaluable liberty from the most well-armed, freedom-loving individuals in the world. ;)

Molon labe, brother.

Mags will be worthless/priceless after the new AWB. It will be like CA's AWB. It will not permit the transfer of high capacity mags.

fwiw, i just bought another 100 magpul pmags.

for my own personal use.

i froogled them and it looks like botach tactical has 'em the cheapest IN STOCK prices ($12.95 + s/h).

also, i noticed that some vendors like bravo company have 100-pack USGI (aluminum) mags for sale for a few hundred cheaper.

buy 'em cheap and stack 'em deep. remember, mags are essentially consumable items.

Just acquired 5 more .223/556 mags for the RRA and 3 extended mags for the Saiga 12.Thinking about (maybe) buying a few more AK's along the way before Jan. 20th...and a lot more ammo too!

I'm pretty sure they'll not just prohibit transfers, but outlaw possesion of them entirely. That's the idea of a compromise, allowing the weapons, just not the hi cap mags that allow them to mow down dozens of people.

I mean, I've got enough (I got a deal on about 60 pounds of surplus mags for just over $100), but I'm not counting on AWB II to be like the last one.

Don't quote me on this, but IIRC, the most recent AWB proposal contained the same grandfather clause. Anybody have knowledge to the contrary?

You don't have to worry unless Obama wins. Then you may not be able to own anything legally.

The minute the 2004 one expired I went on a buying spree.

Never again will I worry about it.

The time to buy wasn't now. It was as soon as you had the gun.

The only way a new AWB magazine ban would work, is by banning all of the high capacity magazines. Marking them 'LEO only' won't do, since there are millions of them now in Citizen's hands.
My guess is that with the stroke of a pen, hussein et al, will make anything more than 8 rounds illegal to own.

:banghead:

Not difficult to figure that one out - they'd grandfather old mags and just mandate a date of manufacture on ALL new high-cap mags, possession of which would be prohibited unless by LE/MIL. Easier and far more politically acceptable than gutting the 5A.

Baloney. (see 5th Amendment...)
