My only LGS that sells reloading supplies didn't have any regular large pistol primers, and I'm not overly patient, so I bought 1,000 magnum primers to get by with.
I'm currently loading 200gr SWCs over only 3.5 grains of Clays. (.1gr below published start load)
I loaded 100 to try.
There was no discernable difference in recoil or POI, although they are noticeably louder than before.
On the plus side, they are much cleaner than with regular primers.
Clays is pretty clean anyway, but magnum primers made them burn really completely. 100 rounds with magnum primers was extra easy to clean up.
Do any of you have experience using magnum primers in .45acp?
What was good or bad about them?
I LIKE THEM!
