It's interesting that you noticed about a 0.3 grain difference between velocities when switching to magnum primers, which is about what I would expect.
I recently tried some Tula small pistol magnum primers in place of Winchester small pistol primers, and noticed a very minor difference in velocity, almost negligible. Based on my results, I'd say they were almost interchangeable, but your results say otherwise. Either the Tulas were weak, or the WSPs were hot.
Changing brands likely skewed my results, so I might have to retry the experiment like you did, and use CCI standard and magnum primers for the comparison. I was looking for another excuse to go shooting anyways...
