I normally use CCI spp. Like most everybody, I'm having a hard time finding any. I have found a source for Federal magnum spp. Will these work in place of the regular spp? Thanks in advance for any help.

Short answer - yes, they'll work fine unless you're using close to maximum loads. You should probably reduce your loads a bit and work back up.
Long answer - when I started loading (many years ago), I started with 357s and 38 Specials, and I didn't use anything except CCI Small Pistol Magnum primers because: first, CCI primers were the easiest to find around here (they're made in Idaho) and second, because CCI Small Pistol primers cost $1.00 a box, while CCI Small Pistol Magnum primers only cost $1.10 a box - .1 cent per primer more wasn't worth the hassle of trying to decide which type (magnum or non-magnum) of primer to use.
I have more magnum small pistol primers than small pistol. I have been loading 7.4gr of Unique under a 130gr coated bullet with a magnum primer. Normally it would be 7.5gr of Unique.
