Major Barf Alert: "Pat Tillman is not a hero: He got what was coming to him"

According to an ESPN article, Pat Tillman turned down book deals before he left for Iraq. This, on top of walking away from the NFL contract. What made him feel really bad about it, though, was that his agent was going to lose out on potential income.

The more I hear about this guy, the more respect I have for him.

Pat Tillman was awarded the Silver Star today. He was posthumously advanced in rank yesterday. It seems that he was trying to save some of his fellow soldiers who were engaged in a firefight and was killed while advancing to help them.

I have long chided people on the use of the word "hero". They use it for almost everything.

The true measure of a hero is someone who, at the risk of their own life, seeks the preservation of the life of another.

Tillman fits that description perfectly and is truly deserving of the title of Hero.
