Makarov

Fiocchi and Sellier & Bellot have 95gr FMJ Makarov ammo and Hornady sells some defense rounds loaded with 95gr XTP bullets. I've shot the Fiocchi and it's been good, but only have 40 rounds to judge from at the moment. It did have a nice sharp recoil, a little harder than the 380's I've shot but certainly nothing to be concerned about. I don't buy aluminum, steel or Berdan primed cased ammo. I reload so when I do buy ammo I try to find boxer primed brass cases.

I'm going to load some XTP and Berry's plated FMJ as soon as I get a factory crimp die from Lee.

PLEASE CHECK, I could be misremembering the max of 3.2...

My Hornady manual lists the Makarov from 3.0gr - 3.6gr of Bullseye for the 95gr XTP, they didn't list anything other than the XTP.

My Lee manual has 3.2gr - 3.6gr for a 95gr FMJ, it didn't have a 95gr lead round or the XTP loaded with Bullseye.

The Lee manual did have a 100gr lead round with 2.8 - 3.2grs of Bullseye.

The Speer manual is a little braver than the others, it lists a 90 Gold Dot JHP with 3.6 - 4.1grs of Bullseye and a 95gr FMJ with 3.5 - 3.9 of Bullseye. Nothing else in the manual.

Czech 9x18 Vz-82

I haven't found too much actual information on this round, but it's supposed to be "20% more powerful" than the standard Makarov. There is a mention of it in the article linked below, but very few details. Said it was sintered iron, but no velocity, muzzle energy or bullet weight information.

Vz-82 ammo, I think it throws a 70 or 80 grn (lighter) round at 1250+FPS
before clinton, I heard it was sold packaged with Fegs and Maks, kinda a package deal of 100rnds surplus and a gun for X dollars, might be the reason some of the older imports have eaten rifling. And backs up that the CZ-82 can handle hot loads.

Managed to find a little more information on the sintered iron VZ 82 round, it was translated to English from the book Ceskoslovenske Pistole 1918 - 1985 by Jan Skramoušský and Vladislav Badalík. I converted the numbers from grams, joules etc. to grains, fps, etc..

Bullet weight was 69.4 grains, muzzle velocity was 1351.7 fps, muzzle energy was 281.6 ft/lbs and max pressure was 24,656 PSI.

That's a 33% increase in muzzle energy and 35% in muzzle velocity compared to the typical 211 ft/lbs @ 1000-fps Makarov rounds we have available.

then i'll hazard a guess that your buggy had a FEG
p-63, not a PM Makarov, or a similar alloy frame gun, and yes they kick, just like any other light gun, some worse than others
If you get wzor 1983 from Radom Poland it will not kick as hard. It is larger pistol designed to eliminate two shortcomings of wzor 1964 excessive recoil and very heavy DA trigger pull.

If you need to open bottle of beer.... :)
