Mark II - What Is It Worth?

Need help with a potential purchase decision. Take a look at the following and tell me what you think a fair price for it is. Note that it has rather interesting tarnishing effect on the metal [it's not cerakote]. It makes it look far more interesting than typical all blue pistols....but, fair value is needed, regardless of whether or not I like the looks.

I'd say around $225 - $250, as long as it seems fine mechanically.

Thats been refinished (poorly) with cold blue, hence the color.

I bought one in roughly the same condition with 3 magazines for under $200 recently.
Still, they are excellent and reliable pistols that are less and less common these days. Anything up to $250 would be a firm buy, perhaps a little higher with some spare mags, case, extra grips, etc.

Yep, seems like $350 ish for basic MKIIs but with the bluing in near new condition rather than that "patina" gun shown by the OP.

$400 - $450 if it was in mint condition (and a heavy barrel version). This isn't anywhere close.

I would go $300 on it provided it checked out okay mechanically. Then it's off to Ruger for a tune up and rebluiing.

around my area a mk2 in that condition would be about 250. I recently picked this standard with 2 original mags for 200 out the door.

I just bought one last month on GB in a little better condition for $241 out the shop door. Bore is good, little bit of finish ware, has the same sort of patina on the back strap and mag release area. But mine is missing the magazine.

Locale can affect market values. Guns are generally more expensive in restrictive states, or in relatively remote place such as Hawaii or Alaska.
I guess that gun might be worth $500 in Prudhoe Bay, lol.

With few exceptions, Ruger .22 autos, like most firearms, will never reach "collector" status in terms of monetary worth. And, no matter how little effect the tarnished finish might have on how well the pistol shoots, it certainly detracts from whatever value a pistol with a nice, original finish might have. Like anything else, a gun is worth whatever someone is willing to pay for it but, with that caveat in mind, considering what ones in new condition as compared with ones in average condition are worth, I'm guessing that the pistol in question is worth no more than $275.00, or so. Don't you like that "or so" admonition?

just price check sold items on gunbroker to get a ballpark. I got a MK2, granted in 2018 or before the pandemic, and it was good contition, with 4 mags, and Maybe it was like $220 and I just wanted it, so I think at that time I overpaid a bit.

The finish on the gun looks sketchy but I’d pay $70 for those Altamont Ultima Target grips.
