Does anyone know why there is such a difference in price between these 2 rifles that look similar?
Is the Cowboy model much higher quality? In what way?
Thanks.

You pay for the octagonal barrel. You pay for the serial number being off of the tang. You pay for the "Iwannacoolgun" factor, only this time for CASS and playing cowboy wannabe.

The 1894C is handier.
The 1894 Cowboy is more handsome.

I think the lever stroke is a bit shorter on the Cowboy, IIRC. Maybe that means more work for them.

How much they will pay factor

Cowboy Action Shooters are willing to pay more, so Marlin charges more. Plus the octagon barrel cost more to manufacture.
My older 1894C was a better finished (from the factory) firearm than my newer 1894 Cowboy II.

Well the cowboy comes with the octgonal barrel, color case finish, and tuned smoother action. You will save alot since these upgrades done by an outside source would cost far more than 200$. Ruger blackhawks come with an aluminum grip frame on the blued models. Vaqueros come with a polished blued barrel, cylinder, and steel grip frame with color case finish on the frame. Both these examples are worth the extra money if you desire a gun nicer than standard.

No Colorcase on Marlin Cowboys

Yeah, the ones I've seen didn't have the case coloring either. Would be nice, though.

I have the 1894CB in 357 mag. I have tried it against the regular model and like the CB version a little better for balance and a heavier barrel.

It looks like they discontinued the CBC thanks. Heres a pic of what they were .
