Just got a new (to me) Marlin 336 and am very happy with is so far. Shoots and handles like a dream, and functions like you'd expect a Marlin to.

Thought I had a handle on cleaning it, but I guess I fudged something up. Took it apart, following the directions (remove pivot screw, remove lever, remove bolt) and didn't have any trouble at all.

Now that I'm trying to put it back together, it doesn't want to go.

I've got the extractor figured out, and can get the bolt in ok fine, but the lever goes in REAL stiff, and won't close the bolt.

I've backed myself out to removing the bolt and just trying to work the lever, and still no-go. The lever won't close fully even without the bolt in the reciever. Also, the loading gate is "locked" closed. I'm hoping that the gate does this whenever the bolt isn't closed, or is this my problem?

I'm now at stage three of frustration, which is - put the #### thing away and ask for help. Don't mess with it any more until you can cool down and not break things you shouldn't.

Any help, ideas or links to "reassemby for idiots" would be greatly appreciated. Thanks...

Check for your ejector, they will easily fall into the action jamming up the works.
