Just looking at converting a Marlin 336 forearm from barrel band to forearm cap. Looking into this I found that mounts for both appear to be in the exact same place.
The difference between the two is the cap one has a tenon that slides into a dovetail in the barrel at that point. On the band version there is just a square cut. Basically it looks like all I need to do is rework the square cut a bit with some needle files and slip the tenon on into place.
That all said, any one have any suggestions on good needle files?
