I began to disassemble my Marlin 333 to clean the bolt per my instruction sheet but apparently I did not open the lever far enough (it said open halfway and I only opened it a couple of inches) before taking out the lever screw. Now I can't pull the lever down and out completely (the next step) nor close it as it was before I started. I'm stuck and need help.

What can I do to remedy my problem? Any suggestions are appreciated. Thank you, Bill

336 Help

Mine can be cantankerous too. sometimes it helps to put my thumb on the bolt and try rotating it back and forth while gently working the lever a bit. Also you gotta watch out for the ejector spring on the left side of the receiver, it can fall into the innards and jam things up a bit and its easy to loose too. Just remembered the hammer. is it down in the cocked position?
Use one of your thumbs and hold it down so it clears the bolt.

Thanks Chew

Tried your method and got the lever out. The spring thing fell out but got it back in place and reassembled! All I wanted to do was get the bolt out and clean it up. Mission accomplished, thanks Bill in Jacksonville (Superbowl City today!)
