So, yesterday I purchased a new Marlin Model 60. When I got it home I noticed that the magaine rod was stuck, so after about 10 minutes of struggling with it, I finally pulled it out. I cleaned it and sprayed some Remoil on it and went to insert it back into the tube. But to my surprise, it would not go further than 3 inches in before getting stuck. :banghead:
I tried to call Marlin, but their customer service doesn't take calls until tomorrow. Any advice? Is this a common problem?
I'm just trying to avoid having to send a brand new gun in for repair right away. Thanks!

You mean disassemble the brass rod which has a spring and follower? Is the orange follower sticking out a inch like it should?

Yes it is. It seems like the tube might be too narrow or something.

It looks like it's getting stuck right where the tube and the barrel are connected. It does appear slightly bent there now that you mention it.

Seen it more then once on a tube fed rifle. If it was like that out of the box I would take it back. If not you can get a new tube for it or maybe repair the one you have.

The outter tube may be off kilter. There should be a small pin holding the outter tube in the barrel band. Tap it out and make sure that the little groove in the outter tube is lined up properly with the hole in the band and perpendicular to the bbl. I had one that was a little stuck like that and properly setting the retention pin helped.

Yup, most likely is the outer tube retaining pin isn't in the outer tube's groove. That causes the outer tube to crush, making it too tight for the brass tube.
