if i was considering purchasing a marlin xlr lever rifle for the sole purpose of deer/blackbear/elk hunting in the northeast, which caliber would you all suggest?
A-30.06
B-35 remington
C-338 marlin express
D-45/70 Gov't

.30-06 doesn't exist in the xlr...there is .308Marlin which is likely what the OP was referring to. There is no need for .30-06 LeveRev. because there are no tubular magazine lever rifles with this chambering (at least that I know of).

FWIW, I would (and plan to) go with a .45-70Govt.
