Maverick 88 SECURITY 12GA

Before COVID and all the related stupidity, people were literally giving them away. Cases of promo Trap loads were under 50 bucks, the good stuff (STS and AA) were about 65. Even with the increase in price of components, with the price of a case of AAs I can still load a case of comparable loads for less. I'm glad I kept the MEC 600 Jr. my Dad gave me years ago.

You would think with the popularity of the Taurus Judge that production of .410 ammunition would have gone up to the point that the costs would come down, but it never has. The smaller quantity of lead and powder should keep the costs lower than that of 12ga, but it's simply an economy of scale.

That said, .410 shouldn't cost more than 20ga.

It's economy of numbers here. Manufacturers make a lot more 12 and 20 gauge shells compared to 410 or 28 gauge shells. The more you make, the cheaper you can sell and still make a profit.

And loading 410 shells is not as easy as bigger shells. Ask anyone that has reloaded 410 along with 20 or 12 gauge.

I bought a FDE security Mav 88 with the 7 round tube a few years ago.

It works great so far for the limited amount that I shoot it. I wanted a SD shotgun that was reliable and in expensive since it will spend most of the time waiting for a day that will hopefully never come
