Currently playing consultant in MD, with the toys left at home.

With four weeks between home visits, it'd be nice to bring some down, given that'd it'd be legal and there's a range (where I can collect the brass: reloader, as you'd expect).

Any help would be appreciated.

Oh, I'm located in a hotel in Germantown, and I can't believe what you people put up with... Ah, well, you wouldn't like my dirt road either, so I guess it all works out.

Which Germantown? Mapquest lists four of them. I assume you would be in the one NW of DC up by Gaithersburg. I think there is a member or two up there, or you could go to Virginia. I am waaay down in S. MD, St Marys County. Feel free to come down here if you really want to drive 1.5 hours. I belong to the local range.

I think that in Montgomery County you are limited to one place (Gilbert's I think)....if you want to drive up the road a bit, On Target is in Severn. Decent range, though nothing more special about it than any other indoor range.

If you want to get together at On Target, drop me a PM and we'll set up a shoot.....lot's of MD'ers on THR

One of the ranges near there is the Isaac Walton League. You need to be a member. There is a public range near Westminister (North of Germantown) Hap Barker - try a search in the Rallying Point forum and you should find the exacat location and directions. The range I belong to is west of Baltimore, again membership is required but guests are allowed. The closest indoor range to Germantown that I can think of is in Rockville - Gilberts. Very nice, a little expensive AND you have to buy your ammo from them.

I'm sure some other Marylanders will chime in. Maybe we'll have to organize a shoot after the holidays.

If your customer anywhere in Northern VA you can go to Blue Ridge Arsenal out by Dulles and the NRA range in Fairfax.

I'll second the OnTarget recommendation. It's not exactly close to DC, but here in College Park it's my main range.

welcome to hades
heres your accordian

its not legal to drive about with firearms in the vehicle unless you are traveling to a range, gunshop or home

no loaded magazines off the range or off your property either

heck, in monkey county
yer not supposed to drive past a church with a gun in the trunk

a non resident bringing in arms to this state and staying in a hotel could be trouble

if i was still a member at the Walton league in Germantown
i'd take ya there

There are a couple of good private ranges up around Fred-neck. Thurmont is awesome, Monocacy is really good for pistol shooting.

If you want to check out the B-CC IWLA (close to Germantown) drop me a line - I'm a member and range officer.

The only weapons that are absolutely prohibited are "assault pistols", like the Mac-series, maybe the Tec-series, and the like. Leave those at home, its a no-no if it wasnt registered before ~1996.
