I was given an MEC Grabber awhile back and had a friend over the other night, who’s son got a new shotgun and wanted to shoot it. After they were done he gave me the trash bag full of hulls, the MEC was set up for.
I loaded them up and noticed the primers were a little high, but they still work, at least the one I shot the bobcat with this evening…
The ones on the right are what the factory arbor puts out, of course that gap is x2 the height of 1 primer.
There is a spring on the MEC that keeps anything from bottoming out but I just wanted to compress it a bit more for a flush primer. I found a piece of 3/4” bar stock and turned one end the same as the MEC, the other end I drilled and tapped 3/8-16 and turned a pilot on a bolt I cut down.
With just a little more compression of the factory spring, it’s now seating them flush (cases on the left above).
