I have an uncle who was at Pearl Harbor and dragged injured soldiers off his ship when it was bombed. Even though my uncle is now dead, I have always felt gratitude to those who stopped Hitler and Imperial Japan. This is a tribute to my uncle and all who have served, past and since. In memorial to those who served. Thank you!

The very right I have to post these thoughts are due to the efforts of American servicemen (and women) through the history of this republic. I cherish the freedoms these people have afforded me.

A tip of my hat to Ned Powers, combat veteran of 31 missions as waist gunner/toggalier aboard a Fortress flying from Foggia, Italy in 1944-45. He was a good airman, a good man, mentor, and father. He made his final stand February 7, 2006. R.I.P.

Just wanted to add my thanks to the troops also.

This morning a bunch of Boy Scout troop (including the one that I am involved with) went to Golden Gate National Cemetary to place flags at the graves of veterans. Its the first time that I have done it and it was quite a moving experiece for me.

+1 My thanks go out to all the American soldiers who have served and who are currently serving.
My grandpa was a Colonel in the Air Force and flew in more wars than I can imagine in his C-130 and other planes. He died shortly before I was born but I'm very proud of him.
Although it seems a lot of metrosexual people like to criticize what we are doing in any particular war, we are still the Unites States of America. The greatest superpower in the world. And the reason we are the best is because our citizens realize you have to fight to earn freedom.
Thank you Jeremy (my friend currently serving) and everyone else defending our freedom!
I recommend anyone who hasn't seen it, to watch "Saving Private Ryan" which is playing, unedited on some channels this weekend. It gives you an idea of what we had to go through to earn what we have.

I have been to the middle east just after the first gulf war. No one who has not been there can realize the divide between us and them. This is our next world war. My uncle would be chambreing the rifle in his grave with the backward world situation that matches the situation he fought against. My uncle risked his life to preserve individual rights and freedom. There is no way he fought for socialism or religious totalitarinasism.

All you troopers past, present, and future: You are doing more than you know and have more supporters than is evident from the news reports. God bless you!

I sincere thank you to all vets. And a salute to my first cousin Rodney Perry who died at age 19 in Vietnam four months after he was there. Only son. Brave Proud and never forgotton.
