I have been robbed at gun point; and I tell you it's no picnic. If you have the means to resist and don't; you surrender your life to the whims and moods of the gunman holding the gun on you be he drugged, drunk, or crazy. Someone said don't resist unless someone's life is in danger; well, if you wait that long, you may not have the chance to resist before you or some else is shot.
then it's too late.

The got video of the 2 perps. The owner is an elderly guy, and I know he wasn't in on it. They apparently made off with 50+ pistols. As they were robbing the store, one on the BG went to the door and pointed the gun at a potential customer preventing him from coming in.

This makes me sick. :barf:

Three men are being sought in connection with Tuesday’s armed robbery of as much as $50,000 worth of guns from a Collinsville business.

Two men carrying handguns went into Southern Gun on Virginia Avenue around 2 p.m. Tuesday, said Henry County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Curtis Spence. They forced the store’s clerk onto the floor, handcuffed him and took 50 to 75 handguns, Spence said.

A third man was involved in the robbery, but police are not sure if he came into the store, the sergeant said. The men fled in a burgundy car, possibly a Toyota, he added.

The guns are worth $40,000 to $50,000, Spence estimated. The semi-automatic pistols and revolvers taken included Glocks, Smith and Wessons, Kimber 45 automatics and Rossies.

Spence said two men, both of whom are probably in their 20s, took the guns from a display case and loaded them into two duffel bags. Together, the bags probably weighed between 125 and 150 pounds, he said.

All of the guns are about the size of the sidearms police officers normally wear, Spence said.

Police took images from the store’s surveillance cameras of two of the suspects. They described the first as a black man in his 20s, between 5 feet 8 and 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighing 140 to 150 pounds. He was wearing black pants and a black hooded sweatshirt and gloves, and he might have facial hair.

That man was carrying a chrome-colored handgun, Spence said.

The second man, also in his 20s, is described as between 5 feet 10 inches and 6 feet tall and between 160 and 180 pounds. He was wearing black pants, black and white tennis shoes and a dark-colored shirt or jacket over a white T-shirt. He had braided, shoulder-length hair and was armed with a handgun.

The police did not have a detailed description of the third man.

Authorities are looking into the possibility that the men will try to sell the guns, Spence said.

Officers also have not ruled out the possibility that the suspects were involved in an attempted robbery earlier Tuesday in the Carver area. Nothing was taken in that incident, which took place at a residence, Spence said.

Southern Gun opened in October in the 4200 block of Virginia Avenue. Owned by David Haskins and managed by Robert “Butch” Farley, it buys, sells and trades handguns, rifles, shotguns and accessories.

In addition to the sheriff’s office, the Martinsville Police Department and the ATF (Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms) are working on the case.

I just read about two car thieves who suddenly turned into murderers after being confronted by the (unarmed) owners of the vehicle, from inside the house. They entered the house, killed one person with their bare hands then assaulted the other unsuccessfully.

Just because they're trying to take your property doesn't mean they don't disregard your life.

A bit more on-topic.. Three guys vs. one clerk? I think I'd take my chances on the 'cooperative witness' approach rather than John Wayne'ing my way out of that.

He is lucky they didn’t kill him out right as soon as they walked in the door. They probably were scoping the place out a week or so prior: number of employees on shift, exits, best time with least customers, etc. It was over before it began.

Having a gun, in and of itself, is not a panacea. Allies, tactics, preparedness, SI, and firearms all contribute to the “odds” of success, which is never a guarantee even when the odds are in your favor. It seems this time the criminals odds were in there favor. Which is unfortunate for the rest of us.

Interesting. Seems guns dont necessarily prevent crime.

Yeah - guns are just another tool. And in fact a pretty limited tool. It's not Magic Crime Stopper Wand.

The original report says three armed criminals. Note the circumstances - we are not talking someone breaking in your house in the middle of the night, where you can assume they are criminal.

Three armed criminals, any of whom have a valid reason to get with 6' of you before the pull a weapon.

Would you take the odds?
