I have always wanted a Mini-14, despite what I've read about accuracy. Anyway, I picked up a used one yesterday at a fairly decent price. It shoots good and ejects fine. However, I am surprised at how far it ejects the spent casings. I reload and have only been able to find about half of the shells ejected so far. It ejects them as far as 20 yards. It's hard following the path because they eject so fast. I couldn't tell where they were ejecting so my son stood behind me and followed the trajectory. Several shot over a hill behind me. They also seem to get damaged on the way out, as several of them had sharp dings right on the neck. Is this normal and if not, can it be remedied?
