Accuracy systems did such conversions. They do good work, but you end up with a $2,000 mini by the time you're done that won't really shoot any better than an $800 AR.
Biggest problem with .17 Rem in an autoloader is the tiny, thin-jacketed bullets sticking way out of a long, skinny case neck. It doesn't take much to deform them, and smashing the bullet nose into the feed ramp is a surefire way to do it.
I love my Rem 700 LVSF in .17 rem, but I wouldn't want an autoloader so chambered.
