mini mauser trigger adjustment

Well, you should have four screws to mess up!

1. The top-rear one is sear engagement, or how far the trigger engages the sear surface.

2. The bottom-rear is over-travel, which stops the trigger after the sear is released.

3. The top-front is weight of pull, which just compresses a spring more or less.

4. The bottom-front is safety adjustment, which should be set to just touch the trigger when the gun is cocked.

It could be that you have set the sear engagement screw #1 so close to releasing that the safety screw #4 cannot be adjusted close enough to work.

well, the sear engagement is certainly minimal at this point. I will increase it again this evening and see what happens.

that fixed it. I'll keep playing with it and try to find the best balace between good trigger and functional safety.

Well, all right then! :D

Another suggestion:

When you do get the sear engagement finalized.
Bang the rifle butt on a carpeted floor several times with the safety both on & off.

Also slam the bolt closed several times as hard as you can.

It should never jar off and fire in either case.
