Looked at 3 model 12s yesterday.

1. Model 12 nickel steel 28" 12 gauge marked "CYL" on plain barrel. Im told this is rare.

SN is 1697xx. Dates to 1919, looks to be professionally refinished, inside of takedown in in the white (and very tight), dark blue, stocks probably replaced as well with pachmayr white line pad.

Beautiful gun.

2. 16 gauge, proof steel 28", mod barrel, 90% condition. Honest wear, not reblued. Aftermarket pad.

3. 20 gauge 28" full barrel, nickel steel plain barrel, possible refinish like above.

I bought one of these today, may go back and pick up another. I've been on a mod 12 kick lately, bought a shooter last week cheap, and now I'm in love with these almost as much as my A5s.

Local dealer got these in an estate collection and is selling for a court. Has a late 40's 42 as well, but I can't get close to buying price. Did get to fondle it today. Very Happy

Which 2 would you get?

12

I have a model 1912 manufactured in 1915 in the 20 gauge and a model 12 manufactured in 1948. I prefer the 20 gauge as it doesnt beat me up like the 12.;)

My original post wasn't very clear and I edited it to clarify.

Anyway, I bought the 12 gauge, I've never seen a cylinder marked 12, especially one with a 28" barrel.

Today, I put the 16 gauge back as well. It's all original and points like a dream. It fits more into what I do anyway, upland hunting. It's a post-war proof steel gun, so it's not short-chambered.

May get back into cornshucking yet!

Pics will be forthcoming.

The 12 looks like it was put in a sealer for 80 years, the 16 has some honest wear, which is good, cause I plan on using it a lot. Or at least carrying it a fair amount.

Most new 20's don't carry this good. :D
