Fielded a question today regarding the shooting of modern ammo in an older gun fitted with a Cutts or Cutts type compensator/choke system.
I had a vage memory of possible problems with the modern plastic shot cups type ammo shaving off the cup into the compensator slots and becoming an obstruction ? I thought this would be a good time to get more information . So what's up ? Anyone have input on this ?

Maybe two weeks ago I asked a guy with a Cutts'd Model 12 this very question.

According to him, it works OK, but cleaning plastic out of the vents is a hassle. Toothbrushes, solvent and elbow grease.

There are several different types of those adjustable chokes. Personally I think they are all bad, if just from an esthetic standpoint. However they do collect plastic, and some of them are known to grab the fingers of plastic wads, creating a dangerous condition for following shots.
