Hey Guys,

Im looking for some info on modern rifle offering for the 6.5X55. I seen one by Tikka that looks nice. Any recommendations and experiences would be appreciated.

CZ 550 (Czech)
Sako 85 (Finnish)
Steyr-Mannlicher (Austrian)

Hard to find American guns in the Swede. Easy to find nice European guns in the Swede. Really nice.:)

Find one of these. Remington made a M700 in 6.5 X 55, and mine is exceptionally accurate (for a lightweight rifle) after bedding.

Or a M70 Classic in 6.5 Swede. Mine is a feather weight.

These rifles are out there, you just have to look.

Bayglock,

Go with the Tikka T3 Lite Hunter! I have one in 270 Win. It is the most accurate out of the box rifle I own. Action is butter smooth and the trigger breaks around 3.5 lbs. The only negative is the plastic stock otherwise best gun for the price in my opinion.

The Tikka/Sako is one of the best in my book.

You could get a donor savage action on the cheap and rebarrel it. I just completed one-:D

I got a Tikka sitting here and a CZ on the way:what: Couldn't decide on which one, so I decided to end up with both.:D

Stay away from the Howas. Heard they quit importing them for awile due to accuracy issues. That info came from a person that works at importer for Howa.

Hm very interesting, and very contrary from everything I've ever heard about a Howa.

I to have always heard good things, other than the usual lemon every once in awhile. Think it was just with this particular caliber and Howa. Rep said as soon as they got the problem fixed, they would start importing again. This was last year when I was told this. If they are importing again, then problem should be fixed.

Slamfire, you have some nice rifles! The Win 70 featherweight is much easier to find in 6.5x55 than the Rem 700. Both are nice if you can find them however.

The CZ 550 is a great value. The 550 FS is an incredible value. In any caliber. I'm still very leery of Tikka since the exploding barrels episodes, but I'm sure they're good too.

I LOVE CZ'S!!!!!!!! I'm about to buy a CZ 452 american 17 hmr to replace my 17 hmr Savage Classic T. I'm also saving up money to buy a CZ 550 American in .30-06, .270, or 6.5x55 (I think that's all they offer for the gun LOL). I'm having trouble deciding between the calibers. CZ 550's are extremely durable, reliable, and accurate rifles that utilize a mauser style bolt. You can't go wrong with one.

I haven't handled a CZ but I have heard some good things about them. I do have a Tikka Varmint in 6.5x55 and it is a real tack driver. A buddy of mine has the same rifle and he shot the 5 round group below (unmodified rifle with his carefully made handloads)

The Tikkas are, IMHO, the best value for the money going right now.
