I've had a shotgun on hand for many years. But have never spent much time with them. So to be honest, am somewhat of a novice. Have owned 2 Mossberg 500s ( still have one ) & 1 Winchester 1300. All pump guns. No problems with any of them. I preferred the Mossbergs only for the placement of the safety.

I am thinking about replacing the 500 I have now with a plain jane 18" barrel version of the 930.

Would be interested to hear opinions pro & con about making that switch. Below is what I currently have.

The 930 is a good gun for fun at the range and i imagine it would be good for shooting skeet. However, it is not my preference for hunting. I try to hunt whenever i can with guns that have external hammers so i can walk around with a round chambered and not have to worry about it as much as i would with an internal-hammer gun. If you are hunting without a round in the chamber to start off with, the 930 feeds so that you have to put one round in the chamber while the bolt is open even if the tube is full.

I have a 9200 'Jungle Gun', which is an earlier version of the 930 Police gun.

Great gun, however, I also kept my two Mossberg 500 pump guns.

Well, there is that "shotgun novice" I was talking about. I was thinking HD for this gun. Hadn't even considered how the 1st round was gonna make it to the chamber. Hand feeding a round under stress, in the dark, does not sound like the way to go. Much better to just pump one in from the tube. Think I'll just stay with the 500. Thanks for the info.
