Mossberg's little AR lookalike .22. I might have a line on picking one up at a very reasonable price. I've done a search and can't find any recent threads on these. I don't plan on doing anything fancy with it, just some plinking. Anything I should know about them? Can anyone tell me if these are any good?

A buddy of mine doesn't have the AR look alike mossberg. But has the regular model 715 plinkster. It's been a good shooter with the standard 10 round mags but will not function worth a crap with the extended mags like comes with the AR look alike. I can't say if the one your asking about will function but know first hand the extended mags are very junky with flimsy springs. While running them in his plinkster it would be lucky if he could get 2 shots without some kind of failure.

I have the rossi rs22 (same as the moss 715), it doesn't like the extended magazines either. Had issues out of the box with the bolt rubbing on the magazine lips (lots of stovepipe ejection failures). Filed the mag lips down, converted the extended mag to a 10 rounder with a floorplate from numrich and haven't had a problem since.

I had the Mossberg 715T.
I think it ran ok, but I only kept it about a week.
It felt really cheap, like a toy, and I just couldn't get to liking it.
Like I say, it shot fine, I just didn't like it.

We sold a few. Nobody came back bragging about how great they were. I looked at them as throwaways. Truck guns.

RightToBear.com has dedicated .22LR complete uppers for $299 right now.
They are non-branded CMMG parts and run wonderfully.
I have several now and love them. The one I bought works as well as the ones I built.

When it comes to ARs nowadays, they are so cheap that a toy version doesn’t make sense.
