We're talking about followers, but I bet most of you guys have some of the dirtiest mag tubes around. It never cocurs to people. A dirty mag tube is a no no and in fact, a mag tube is what gets dirtiest the fastest after shooting, aside from the bore. In my experiences at least.
Every gun, I get, new or used, ALWAYS has the mag tube polished. I clean out the mag tube first using CLP Powder Blast and cleaning patches. When those come out clean, I take 3-in-1 oil and liberally coat the inside. I then take a cleaning rod and attach to an electric drill. I use a bore mop on the end with a large patch tied around it so it's a very tight fit and will cause friction inside the mag tube. I run this back and forth through the tube for a good 15 minutes. I then reclean and LIGHTLY oil with breakfree. Do not use a brass brush or anything abrasive. If the mag tubes that bad just get a new one and make a project out of the old one. Clean VERY lightly oil the mag tube spring. Like super duper light. In fact I prefer to apply the lube by hand. Spray on one end and distribute by hand.
An extra power Wolff spring never hurt anybody either.
