Mossberg Mariner for defense + turkeys

Turkey gun.
1. The dull chrome Mariner would spook a turkey half a mile away unless you cammo tape it with $20 bucks worth of cammo tape every season.
2. The 9+1 shot mag is probably illegal for hunting unless you plug it to reduce capacity.
3. It is a straight Cylinder bore, without interchangable chokes, and you need full choke or more for turkey killing patterns.
The Turkey model comes with interchangeable choke tubes, legal mag capacity, and cammo finish already one it.
I can almost bet a BG in your house will not complain to anyone while they clean him off the wall because you used it instead of a dedicated tackycool 9-shot combat shotgun to stop him with.
Besides, your chances of needing a cammo Turkey gun every year are probably 10,000 to 1 greater then needing a 10-shot combat shotgun to stop a BG in your home every year.

A wise choice.
Later on, if you feel the need for speed, you can add a short 18" Cyl choke barrel for HD.

Most of the purpose-built turkey guns out there have relatively short barrels. My 870 Express Turkey has a 21" barrel, set up from the factory with a vent rib, dual beads that serve as rudimentary sights, and RemChokes. It's a great dual purpose turkey and HD gun as is, with different choke tubes in place for different duties that is.
