how dare you insult the mighty australian empire! the people who brought us Men at Work, Crocodile Dundee , Crocodile Dundee II and to a lesser extent Crocodile Dundee in Los Angeles!

seriously though some countrys are a loss. not only in terms of guns.

recently iv been watching the new seasons of Dr.Who. in one episode aliens are invading england and they have to wait to get UN approval to use nukes... though its only entertainment it speaks alot for peoples mindset to allow another person to control your defensive trump cards.

It is, however, good to see that for every (1) anti video on YouTube, there are several hundred videos of people of all ages/colors/types shooting guns, learning about historical firearms, etc.

There's some short documentary up about visiting a U.S. family that owns a Lewis gun, will have to go watch that one.

My $2. The first video was well done except for the obvious propaganda. The second vid was weak, at best. The third vid had a cool soundtrack in the begining.

If Steve Irwin had carried a gun he would still be alive today. Nothing like getting shanked for a couple of sand dollars.:uhoh:

I kind of like the first one.

(Smith and Wesson) You find this attractive, don't you?

Your kids too.

8 children a day are killed by guns in the USA.

IS this a negative ad? Or are they telling the Aussies that maybe they need to start keeping up?

Quit cigs 2W 3D 22h 33m ago. So far saved $107.63, 717 cigs not smoked and counting ...

Non seqitur.....does not compute.

Steve Irwin was killed by the barb on the tail of a manta ray on the floor of the ocean. Not exactly prime real estate for firearms. Even if he had been carrying a spear gun it's unlikely he would have been able to react fast enough to alter the outcome. His death is one of the true flukes of nature. An accident in it's purest sense.

Gun Culture

Years ago, there was no gun culture. Not in any sense segregated from the rest of our culture.

RKBA is baked into this country, so efforts to disarm the population have, themselves, created a distinct gun culture where none previously existed.

There was no (separate) gun culture in Australia either.

And then the government confiscated everyone's guns, including family heirlooms. Over the years, the futility of that gesture has become glaringly apparent to anyone actually paying attention.

I will bet good money, though, that if the population down under ever gets that collosal goof fixed, they will, sure enough, have a gun culture.

One anti from Oz posts a video on YouTube, and all of a sudden the whole country is to blame. What are we to make of it when an American anti posts a video on YouTube?

Edited to ask: where on the High Road does the ill-informed slagging-off lie?

Nice knee jerk reaction guys.
In the first clip they kids have hand guns which are difficult for us to own anyway and they have obviously been stored illegally (as safes are required).
in the second clip-if she had been armed she might have lived (as in a recent shooting in my street a week ago).
In the third clip the little girl was able to defend herself from sandpit rage as she was armed.

Australia had a thriving "gun culture" until about 20 years ago- lots of hunting and sport shooting-10 years ago Martin Bryant in particular began the slide into our gun laws-another ill-thought out knee jerk reaction.

We are in the same boat as you mob at the moment in terms of educating the general population and I do so at every opportunity.

And no fair bagging Vegemite- it is what God puts on His toast!

Good to see a couple of other aussies making the same points I was going to make.
I seem to recall there's something like 8 hundred thousand licensed firearms owners in Australia. Now, that's from memory, so it's probably not too accurate. But there's still plenty of aussies who enjoy the shooting sports. Unfortunately you rarely hear about the positive side.

I just watched the first video. It said something like 8 children are killed by bullets a day. Although thats 8 to many, that is way less then pretty much anything else a chile might die from.

I think we, in the US, would do well to look at what happened to legal gun ownership in Australia. Our 2nd amendment rights are subject to grotesque interpretation as well.

As OP, my intent was not to start an Ozzie bashfest, but just to point out some good-quality propaganda that's being put out down there.

The third clip was a U.S. one, and if anyone has any other good-quality anti-clips from any country, they would be germane to the thread.

There are a ton of anti-shooting reggae clips on YT, but I'm unclear as to whether they're anti-gun per se, or just "Jamaicans: for the love of pete, stop shooting each other!"

If that first one ended in a message about safe storage, I'd call that a damn good public service announcement.

Second one is stupid. If guns didn't exist, he'd have a busted ball bat.

Third one: Atrocious 80s music! Augh! My ears!

what the [grammaw].

Be more concerned about perfectly legitimate videos being portrayed as anti-gun here in the states.

I saw a video on Break.com the other day that depicted a father and his very young son shooting a .22LR pistol together (Dad really did most of the work, and though he kept telling the child to "look down the sights" there was probably little to no aiming occurring). There were no safety violations that I could see; mom took a spent case to the head or camera, but that's not really that dangerous.

Anyway, all the comments I could easily read were all about how shocking and terrible this scene was. Not to mention that description of the video by the site management was "little kid shoots BIG gun." Amazing.

Eh, the director or whom ever made that film could not be troubled to get original footage for his project. The sequence with the kids fighting over the guns is lifted from Terminator2:Judgement Day. Wonder where he got the shots of the S&W?

*snort* Coke + KBD + Laugh = new KBD

8 children a day???? If that were really true then all guns would be banned here. We'd have had them confiscated ages ago. ... for the Children.

Could it really be 8 "Minors"? As in teens involved in gangs and drugs? A tidge bit different than children. But what are facts when you are trying to save people from themselves?

And no fair bagging Vegemite- it is what God puts on His toast!

I just became and Atheist.:neener:

Sindawe- Yea, if it wasn't lifted and has some kind of storage message it wouldn't be bad PSA.

The camera view of loading a round in the chamber was pretty cool looking. Made me want to go shoot my SW686.

The last vid is a joke (was that a real ad) and the second is stupid. If there were no guns...and all of mankind would hold hands and sing together. :barf:

Yes, I know how he died. Since I watched their propaganda, I thought it only fair that I add my own, equally absurd, propaganda. :scrutiny:

BTW, my cousin is living in OZ land and she loves it there.
