I'll go the other way I chose the following guns as my best guns.based on date and use.1884 mauser,1888 commision,1917 amer enfield.,M1 Garand.
the 1903 is good I like it but the 1917 was better.the 84 mauser was state of art at time.the 88 was easy to load as are mannlickers.Mi garand easy to load
and accurate.
the 1903 lasted to end of WW2 as did the 1917.the garand thru the Korian war.the M16 viet nam to present.the M14 is being used in Irag.

The HK-91 (and clones) has horrible ergonomics and is poorly balanced. This would be less of an issue if it sold for $350, new.

Some of it is probably a matter of personal preference. A friend of mine really likes the G3's charging handle because it allows you to cycle the action without removing your strong hand from the grip. (I could see how this would be a real nightmare for left-handed people, though.)

By poorly balanced do you mean that it's barrel-heavy? I can see the downside of that but mine does have a bipod, which would be somewhat of a help.

I would imagine that people who were trained with the G3 probably don't mind the feel of it, but people who are used to other platforms would find it very awkward. I myself am just assuming that I will adjust to it over time, if I don't fall in love with it right away. If not - well, it seems to hold its value remarkably well.

Well, as far as charging handle goes, you can do the same thing with a FAL, and the balance is better. And by better, I do mean more evenly distributed. Depending on which selector you use (English, definitely), you can even do it without shifting your grip.

the most overrated rifle has to be the COLT ar-15. people act like they were forged in the fires of mordor and that every other brand of ar is nothing but a cheap imitation. even the ones that cost more and use higher quality parts.

The Garand is not overrated. I absolutely love mine, and so do my friend who've shot it. I've put more than 800 rounds of milsurp through it without one failure from the gun. Yes, it's heavy. Yes, it only holds 8 rounds. Yes, it's incredibly difficult to eject a partial or full clip. But if I were to only have one rifle, the Garand would be it.

I'll pile on to the H&K being overrated though. Also, ARs are overrated.

i think guns are overrated. i use a stick with a nail in it for personal defense.
