I haven't shot PPC in a long time, but my contact in the field shoots a M52 in the automatic match pistol event; magazines modified to hold 6 rounds of .38 wadcutters. He looked hard at a M952 for the "service pistol" event but eventually broke down and bought a PPC 9 built for the purpose. There is a duty gun event that requires fixed sights, he shoots a Beretta 92 there. I don't recall what he uses for the hideout gun event.

Revolvers and autos are shot in separate divisions. This guy shoots, as most do, a heavy barrelled, ribbed K38. He has one of the late series K38s with full lug barrel for the Distinguished match and a 581 for the service revolver.

PPC

Quality 1911 pistols with 6" longslide and Aristrocat or similar sights seem to rule the roost nowdays. Although I do see Glocks, Springfield XD's and others.
I use a 5" Les Baer in .45 ACP and do OK. Some guys use the various 9mms, but in my area most use .45 ACP.

Most top level competitors are using the S&W PPC-9's.
Only a few of the very best competitors are using 1911 platforms. Those that do have access to unlimited funds and personal armorers. Most of these guns require near constant maintainance to maintain top performance.

Those that are using 1911's are using Caspian or Baer frames (a few using Springfield), with Barsto or Kart barrels. Occasionally I'll see an STI, but not of those in or near the winners circle.
