Hey y'all,

I move to NJ on Friday... be packin the computer and other stuff on the truck tomorrow and Thurs. It will take me a week or so to get back online, so I will catch up with you all soon.

I will quickly be sending posts on exactly how bad or not so bad the 2A culture is in southern NJ. Wish me luck... I have to keep reminding myself I am doing this for my kids.

Why would you take your kids to NJ??? I'll grant that not all of the state is a crowded urban polluted mess, but unless you're moving to one of the rural areas I can't imagine bringing my daughter there.

Good luck in The Peoples Demokratik Republik of Noo Joisy.

I cannot think of any reason I would ever even visit there; never mind living in PDRNJ.

Welcome...

We here in the Democratic Peoples Republic of New Jersey welcome all free people to come and surrender their rights......just kidding, but you'll probably experience some 'culture shock' when it comes to your firearms, that's for sure. Buy everything you want before you leave Ga., and you won't have to deal with getting a permit-to-purchase a handgun. You might want to bring a good stock of ammo. with you, because untill you have a state FID card & local drivers license, you can't even purchase ammunition up here, or any type of long gun. Other than that, things are fine :what:
Since you're going to "south" Jersey, you'll be somewhat better off in terms of crowding & pollution than we in the center & northern part of the state experience, but the gun "laws" are just as :cuss:-up down there as they are up here. Anyway, good luck in your move. What town are you headed to btw?

Good luck. I lived there first 26 years of my life, next 26 here in Fla. If they paid me 10 million a year, I would go back for 6 mos. Sell your guns, I have no idea how to LEGALLY bring them in. Oh my. Joe

Greetings all! This is my first post! I was invited to this forum by Neoncowboy, who I met down in NC at an RWVA Appleseed shoot.
Yes, I earned Rifleman.

O.k. now, Urk! NJ? I spent 20-some years growing up there, in Middletown (where oddly enough, there are quite a few Republicans...). Nevertheless, I escaped to PA when I was 27. Never even thought of owning a firearm until then, as there was no such thing as a "gun-culture" where I grew up in NJ. The rules, regulations, and permits/I.D.s seemed put in place to catch the unwary, so I was always intimidated from even trying to own. That's probably the whole purpose anyway IMHO. I would never, ever willingly move back.

But, not to put a downer on your plans... good luck with your move. Don't drink the water.;)

our walk through life

Please reconsider your plans.
I'm supposing that your move would involve a higher paying job, or perhaps the aquisition of a job in lieu of not having one.

However, you mentioned the welfare of your children. If you will be then able to buy them a: larger, flat screen TV, or perhaps to send them to some prominent school, or now be able to afford purchasing a sporty new car for the youngster -consider! Just what is truly beneficial for them, you and your wife? "A man's worth does not consist in the abundance of what he posesses." Just what of lasting and true value that you think they, and you, will come by?

You may be better off where you are, than searching out promises, that may not hold up. With the volitility of the job market, and the uncertainty of stability being what it is, I would think about it one more time. Though, I'm sure you have many times already.

What you have to gain may not be worth what you will be giving up.

Best wishes and good fortune.

get ready to hear this from waitress's:

Hey yoo's guys, can I yoo's guys's somethin to drink?

Seriously, it is that bad. I have been to jersey once and it was terrible, Delware sucks too but it has better 2A laws its actually not nearly as bad, Move to little D if you have to be in that area.

move

Moving to Cherry Hill, about 15 min east of Philadelphia, Pa. That is where I grew up. Many folks know I have been stocking up on good guns since the decision was made.

I am going into a family business there. Moving there is a choice because I feel that MY children need to know their extended family members. Both sides reside in the area.

This may not sound like a good reason to y'all but it is good enough for me. The schools are better then in Atlanta, there are beaches and mountains and cousins and granpmoms etc etc. Plus the S. Jersey area has much less crime then Atlanta. I think you could even count Camden in there and still make that claim. My family members will be safer in my opinion.

Anyway, I hope to catch up with you all soon.

You sir are guilty of potential child abuse as well as self-flagellation. Why not live across the river in a state that is gun friendly.

Well, your kids will probably leave NJ at 18 anyway seeing how it's the state that exports the most college students in the entire country!
