recently bought these knobs to replace the adjustment bolt for the powder measures. absolutely loving them. I consider them a must do (for me) since I was always forgetting which way to turn the darn bolt to increase/decrease charges.

Those look nice. I just bought a couple of knobs at Lowes and marked + and - with a sharpie. Not quite as nice looking as yours.

Can you give a link or info on how to obtain such knobs?

What's the purple thing on the bottom pic for (rubber band/elastic piece)?

Nice, but hardly a must do. When fine tuning to the 1/10 of a grain, I just nudge the bolt head with my fingers. The larger knob would provide too much leverage. Interesting that Dillon doesn't sell these.

the mr dial sure is pretty. I could always move the bolt by hand too. but I seemingly always forgot which way was which. even put it on paper a couple times and never could find it when I needed it.

maybe not an absolute must have, true. but I am sure happy with the money I spent on it.

I could put red loctight on mine once I have them set. I keep extra bars preset for the loads I make to speed up swaps. Would rather not have them change.

That said I too just use my fingers when adjusting them.

I have seen the nut covers lie that in Homedept too.

Jmo(rris),
Im waiting for you to post pics of your talking robot..programmed to do your handloading, that you made out of tin cans, pine needles, and jumper cables..

I have those an all mine and it definitely makes it easier for me to judge the amount of adjusment needed.

With shipping the knobs off ebay are about $7.50 each, so a bit more expensive. But they are nicely stenciled. I did order a set.

My two Dillon measures rarely get changed although I tend to have to tweak the setting each time I use them. If I had not seen these by happenstance, I would not have made the effort to buy knobs. But, at least with the knobs, I will not have to think about which way to turn.

If I had to make major changes in the powder measure setting for different cartridges, I would get the micrometer head mentioned in Post #14. Record the micrometer setting and it is quick to get back to that setting.

Yep, lots of neat options out there. Don't you just love American ingenuity? :)

I have the "plain" knobs, bought at Home Depot several years ago. Found one in white, bought a couple, then found one in black, bought one, looking for one in blue :)
Mine are hand-marked, not stenciled, but if I were starting again, I'd probably buy one of these.

The Uniquetek micrometer adjusters are great set it write down setting when you want any load that you recorded just turn it back to that setting. I have two one large one small bar all you need. That way no need to buy PM just adjust. I have small in one measure large in one . Finished work great

I have 4 or 5 of the blue knobs and they work ok except they are not too secure since the powder bar bolt is rounded off. I have mostly gone back to the original set up since I don't change the charge often and the original has more fine control.

It's fun to tinker with these machines even if the "upgrades" aren't really needed, plus I like supporting small business. My all time favorite mod is the live primer catch bottle. I have also added the roller bearing cam screw and phenolic index ball and spring.

Jmorris,

Sir, you have severely underestimated Jmorris.

He already has the aforementioned robot. But his robot writes all his THR responses and posts, thus giving him an additional 3-4 hours each day to enjoy shooting and reloading.

:D

I have used these for years but I do take one precaution. I apply tape across the knob to lock its position. I had a case where I walked into the house to help my wife get something off a shelf for a minute. My son just had to twist a the knob messing with my settings. Its strange how a bolt doesn't interest kids but a bright colored knob just needs to be "adjusted". Just a warning and it also prevents movement it you cover up your machine and bump knob or drag cover across knob.

They do look good. Being a tightwad, I just used a Sharpie to mark a + on one side and a - on the other side of the block the adjustment bolt goes into. Works for me. To each his own. :)
