Cousin of mine had a braked AR for 3-gun he let me shoot. The difference in recoil was barely noticeable but the increase in muzzle blast definitely was... felt like a 30-06 at least. I never had an interest in braking my ARs and that small sample confirmed it for me.

Linear comps do interest me though, as a cheap and legal way to get some noise reduction.

I don’t want to drag the thread sideways, but what thread is a psa pistol barrel I’m trying to find a linear comp or a flash can to cut down the noise. It’s either 1/2 or 5/8. I’m pretty sure it’s the former.

It depends on the caliber. The standard thread pitch is 1/2x28 for 5.56.

Excellent. It’s 5.56 so it’s the 1/2. Thank you. Now I’m going to see which one looks like me. When I go to change it is it safe to clamp on the A2 front sight? I am getting some nylon blocks soon.
