So about 8 months ago I bought a bergara B14 hunter in 30-06 on sale at my local gander outdoors and immediately fell in love with it. The action is smooth the trigger is great and the bluing looks fantastic for what i paid for it. To boot it is supposed to be one of the most accurate out of the box rifles you can buy in its price range. But when i first took it out to shoot I couldn't get a 3 shot group under 3 moa. I won't claim to be an amazing shooter but 3 shots in under an moa is a pretty well within my skill level. I tried 8 different factory loads, 2 scope bases, 2 scopes and 2 sets of rings in an attempt to get it to shoot and burned through far more ammo than i should have trying. Normally in this situation i would just rid of the rifle, I have no interest in a gun that wont shoot, but i like this one enough to actually go through the warrantee process. When i called bergara and told them my story they said i had done more than enough on my end to warrant sending it in to be looked at and gave me a shipping label. Boxed and sent. Almost 3 months after sending off I received it back yesterday and just had to go shoot it. They replaced the original barrel with a slightly thicker contour and a threaded muzzle. It only weighs about 3 oz more but now has a threaded muzzle and greater heat tolerance so that's a positive in my book. They also refinished the entire barreled action. I only had some federal powershok with me and a 100 dollar athlon neos scope to put on it but color me impressed.
These are both actually only 3 shot groups with stray .270 rounds between (i have some beef with my savage 110). The group to the upper left of the middle is more or less 1/2 moa whereas the one at the top is more or less 3/4-7/8. This is at 110 yards off a range bag and my hand. After getting it POA-POI i backed it up and slapped an 8 inch steel plate at 400 8 times out of 8 before i ran out of ammo. I have nothing but positive things to say about the customer service, the gunsmiths work and the finished product bergara has offered. Even with the wait im considering another bergara.
