Thanks to all who chimed in to my other post on this. So I ordered a Daisy 753S from Pyramid Air. $250. Shipping to AK was steep at $50, but it was a pretty big box. It left their warehouse within 48 hrs and came pretty well packaged.

I have to say, the build quality is not at all near what I expected, but I wonder if I was expecting too much at that price point. I'm more familiar with the high end Anschutz 10 meter precision class rifles, which start at about $1500, so I can't compare to that. The only other airguns I've owned were the cheap, Crosman 760 type guns, so I can't compare to that. Maybe this is on par for a $250 airgun.

The plastic stock is lightweight but solid. No flex that I can tell. I can run the single pump lever weak-handed with no problem. It came with 2 stock extension inserts for under the butt plate and I've used one; stock is pretty short for an adult. (I'm 5-8.)

Front sight is a plastic globe type with various inserts. Rear sight is heavy but clunky. There is a lot of rotation (1/4 turn or more) between clicks, but the clicks are positive and easily counted. I had to run out half of the available elevation to get it zeroed. This is problem I also have with my Williams 5D and FP peep sights on my lever guns, so maybe it's just me. One stand out about the rear sight is the direction of turn on the knobs. It's backwards from the Anschutz guns. The Daisy moves the POI left with a CCW turn and up with a CCW turn. The rear aperture is very tiny. I will need to add more lighting in my garage; the sight picture is quite dark.

The trigger has a lot of creep, but doesn't require a lot of force. My guess is about 5-ish pounds. Farrr better than any of the 760 or similar guns I, or my son, ever used. It's probably about as good as my Marlin Model 60. The bolt operating handle however, is really crap. Entirely plastic and has a LOT of give and flex. Pulling the bolt back will deflect the handle 45 degrees. It works but I wonder for how long.

The gun is super, super accurate from a bench rest. I can already tell that this gun is really going to force me to concentrate on all the fundamentals-especially breathing. I've been shooting a lot of USPSA type competitions with a lot of rapid fire and huge targets; even the 6 MOA targets in Service rifle seem big compared to a 10 Meter bull.

Overall, I think it's going to fit the bill for my purposes, at my level (I'm certain I couldn't shoot a $1500 precision class rifle any more accurately than this $250 sporter class rifle) at a price I could justify. (At $250, it's darn near disposable.)

I shot a 753 when I started on the air rifle team for jrotc. There not much to look at but can be extremely accurate. I shot mine for about 3 months, I made expert the first week with it. I was fit for a walther and it was on order, in the meantime I shot 3 or 4 perfect 300 matches with that daisy.

I really need to get one of the cmp daisys before there gone. Good luck with it.
