My 8 year old daughter, who has exibited no interest in firearms ever, accompanied me to the range today. We discussed the range rules, gun safety, and the parts of the gun. She understands and retains more than I thought possible.
We shot .22 pistol and rifle. Not a lot, just enough to give her some success at hitting her targets. Her crowning achievement that we ended the day with was hitting the reactive steel target @25 yds with my Marlin bolt gun.
And she liked it enough to go again!
Next up, my 6 year old.
