If you really like this girl, then you need to make sure that her opinions are something that you can live with before settling down. If she's just a girlfriend, then you better just start biting your tongue.

Speaking of which, I'm off to dinner tonight at some illegal mexican family's house because my fiance is friends with them at work. You can't live with them, and life ain't so bad without them... hold on, maybe that's not the original phrase.

"...had eaten BBQ..." You don't eat BBQ. You can cook on one, have one, go to one or eat food cooked that way, but you can't eat BBQ.

I beg to differ, you cook on a grill, barbecue is a delicious food normally made from pork. Of course my wife makes a wonderful ground beef barbecue, so there are variations of it, but rest assured BBQ is food.

As for your girlfriends mom, you know you will love her when you take the next step. Calling her Mom will come naturally
