My Glock slide lock keeps locking

I think my Glock slidelock spring is broken!?! Went to the range today; and the slide basically locked back after every shot; I just separated the slide from the gun; and the slidelock is a little bit floppy.. does that mean my spring is bad; or is the spring out of place? I thought I'd ask before attempting to take it apart; and if the spring is indeed broken; what am I look at in terms of difficulty replacing it? Thanks.

Is there a spring connected to the slide lock? It won't be a coil spring, it's a piece of round spring steel with a leg hooked onto the release, and another on the frame. If you pull up on the slide release, do you feel spring tension?

I'd say there's no problem with the "slide lock", but there's a problem with the slide stop.
-the slide stop's spring could be broken, which actually happened to me a couple of days ago and a few times prior to that over the years.
-more commonly, the slide stop is installed incorrectly. The slide stop's spring should be UNDER the locking block pin (if this is a newer 3-pin Glock). This is accomplished by removing the locking block pin, trigger pin, and slide stop.

Then reinstall by (1) installing the locking block pin first; then (2) holding the slide stop in place (w/a little bit of wiggling) while inserting the trigger pin (from the right side).

Any chance you're unintentionally pressing the slide stop upward when firing the gun? I'd say it's unlikely given how flat and unobtrusive this lever actually is, but it's not unheard of either. Check your form. First and easiest.

If not that, check the "spring" - which isn't actually a spring; more like a bent piece of metal almost like a paperclip. Spazzymcgee's link is correct, that's all there is. No actual spring of the usual coiled type.

This video shows how to remove it for inspection. Replacement is also covered, though he replaced it with the extended version. It's the same either way though. Nothin to it.

Had Glocks since 1984, never seen a broken one, installed wrong? Seen those, the Glock extended slide lock, go to that piece.

When I first started using a Glock 17 in IPSC competition, I had a habit of pushing the Slide Lock lever up, inadvertently! A nuisance.

Then it cured it's self!

Did that very thing myself once. Torsion spring has no tension unless it is under the pin to tension the spring.

It's "floppy" like when the slide is off; and I push it up; it sorta stays up; not returning down.

I've not had a problem with it until this last range trip.. so I'm thinking broken.. I'll take it apart today.. and see if it's something else.

Took it apart.. the spring was no longer sitting below the other pin; so yanked it out; watched about 7 minutes of youtube videos. .. and my gun is functioning perfectly again. Thanks. slide stop spring was over the pin.
