You stated that its assembled from the parts of 2 guns, yes? If one of the donor guns was an Auto 5 (either FN or Miroku), or a Savage 720, then there could be dimensional issues with the Remington receiver.

I believe the M11, Auto-5, and 720 are not 100% compatible.

I believe they're both Springfields and there are a few differences between them and the brownings
 
Your previous statement that a light touch gets it working suggests binding.
When it's set to chamber can you physically lift the carrier and it stays in place?
 
This is a spring problem. Not just the carrier spring but the action and recoil springs also. Reason i say this is because those two springs are critical to proper function and they affect the entire cycle. If they are bad then you can expect issues.

OP, take the barrel off and then take the big spring off on the magazine tube.

Measure the spring in its relaxed state and report to us how long it is.

Truthfully, remingtons and savages are much, much closer in parts commonality (with some exceptions) than they are to the auto 5. So hopefully we are dealing with remington and savage and NOT FN.

The recoil spring should be somewhere around 9 inches long. when the barrel releases and returns to battery the breech bolt is left in a too-short position which makes it start its return to battery too early. The spring is directly responsible for that. Further, the spring is worn and short enough that it may be bottoming out. That’s not good.

And the action spring in the butt will be similarly as bad.
 
So the main spring basically barely touches when fully assembled I'll just start with new spring and a friction ring
 
Yeah the barrel will literally jump out if you don't hold it back with a good spring. Should of thought of that myself. Oh well you got it figured out now. At least parts are easier to get than the A5. Might be good to get a complete kit.
 
Replace 39 along with 36. 39 is the brake for 36 and does stretch and lose its elasticity over time.
 
A couple of observations. Replacing the springs is an excellent idea. While you’re ordering them, you may as well replace the magazine spring, #54.

In your first picture, it looks to me like the barrel is not fully in battery. I’ve checked my Auto-5’s and none of them have the barrel that far back. A new recoil spring and a clean track should fix that.

Properly sprung the far end of the barrel extension (think chamber area here) should be flush with or slightly proud (by like 1/8”) of the outside edge of the receiver face. Too much prouder and the barrel ring will start to make contact with the forearm. If not at least flush with the edge, the barrel is likely out of battery and that will prevent correct/complete breech bolt lockup. The feeding problem is a symptom of that but shooting the gun in that condition is probably not a good idea.

His recoil spring is so worn that the coils can make contact with themselves. In that condition the spring physically can’t return the barrel to battery.
 
BTW, for the record, the springfield 745b was a later version of the savage 720. It utilized a trigger plate assembly package that was quite different than its predecessors-I believe (could be mistaken here) there is no lower tang on the trigger plate for the buttstock. And I think the receiver was aluminum alloy, not steel. If they carried the receiver design over from the Savage 720 without a lot of change, I think it should have a notch cut into the back of the receiver a la the auto 5’s for breech bolt clearance, and because of that should not have a fiber buffer. Model 11’s were somewhat unique in that regard.
 
While you have it torn down, check the wear inside your forearm where the recoil spring sits. Check for cracks or indents inside the groove of the forearm. Replace if necessary. I have heard there is a company that makes a nylon space to go inside the forearm to lessen the force of the spring impact, but cannot remember the company.
 
Swapped some of the parts turns out the friction ring isnt supposed to slide freely the new shell lifter spring was longer and thicker that my old one even after I stretched it and the action spring was a pain to get in since it actually had some spring left

So now it's not working at all the shell lifter isnt going up at all and the bolt isnt locking to the rear
