I posted before asking about options for getting together with one. Appreciate the input of all those who participated In the end, I decided to order a complete upper from Grendel Hunter. It came today and I spent the afternoon putting together all the parts I'd accumulated. The upper has an 18" fluted, black cerakoted barrel, 12" M-lok free float tube and their black nitride BCG. Upper receiver and forend coated in tungsten cerakote. The lower is an Aero I had laying around, put together with a Velocity 3lb trigger parts kit I sourced from Brownells a couple years ago. I'm an unrepentant Magpul whore so it wears a UBR buttstock, MIAD grip and their polymer flip sights are cheap insurance. Bought the scope a few years ago as well, a Primary Arms 1-6x in a Warne mount that I ordered by mistake. The finish is their "wolf gray" but it looks more silver in the picture. So far I'm really digging it. At 8lbs 9oz as pictured (7lbs 2oz without scope) It came in a little heavier than I wanted on paper but it handles and balances nicely. Only fired five rounds to check function. Have to wait and shoot it on paper tomorrow. I've got a case of Wolf with dies and brass on the way. I'll update again once I shoot it some.

Nice looking rifle; is the Warne mount a 20MOA? I have one on my Grendel, it's a good mount. Was it the mount, or scope, or both you say you ordered by mistake? let us know how it runs; what dies did you get, and what brass? Hornady has really good 6.5G brass, they also make Alexander Arms brass, so both headstamps are good quality and prices are reasonable.

I ordered the mount by mistake. It's the zero elevation version. When I ordered the Vortex Razor 5-20x a few years ago for my RPR, it never occurred to me that the tube would be anything other than 30mm. Lesson learned the hard way but I knew I'd eventually have a use for the it. The scope I ordered a few years ago because I thought the color was cool. Also figuring I'd eventually figure out where it would land.

So far I'm really digging the UBR. My biggest gripe with AR carbine stocks is that my facial hair gets caught between the butt and the buffer tube. The UBR totally rectifies that but is not a very long, fixed length like the PRS. Plus it locks very solid, no wobble like most stocks. Even those with a friction lock will get some play in them, perfect for snagging lip hairs. ;)

Need to go ahead and shoot it this morning, rain is in the forecast this afternoon.

Sorry I forgot the other questions. I ordered RCBS dies and Starline brass. Along with Speer Gold Dots to go with whatever other 6.5 bullets I already had but never used.

.458 socom running hot 405s, cheap stock, and not shaving for a month can be quite an adventure......

Ill have to check out the ubr, It might be exactly what i want for my Grendel. I dont like the carbine lower it gets attached to, so will be building it a dedicated lower soon.

I have been eyeballing the ubr as well, it absolutely sucks getting a few beard hairs pulled out by the stock. Talk about creating a flinch! I have used electrical tape on most of my stocks, but it's getting old

The UBR’s are fantastic. Many consider the UBR’s to be the only telescoping stock suitable for Service Rifle competition due to the fixed cheekweld design, and rock-solid adjustment. I have two Gen 1’s and a Gen 2 - honestly prefer the Gen 1’s better for the fact I can add a bottom-center A2 style sling mount, but both are as good as it gets for a telescoper.

The only thing keeping me from picking up a UBR is uncertainty about the material used in the proprietary buffer tube. I have no idea whether it's 6061 or 7075 Aluminum. If it's the former, I'd pass.

Seems like a silly concern, since the UBR isn’t a mil-spec tube design, but the receiver extensions used in the UBR’s are 7075 T6.

Hastily printed group and as you can see it was starting to sprinkle. Five shots at 50yds with the Wolf 100gr. The chevron reticle is going to take some getting used to and I used the wrong target for it. Not too bad for cheap steel cased ammo. I have a couple boxes of Federal Fusion as well as dies and brass on the way. The mag release is a little wonky and needs some tweaking.

I have a few rifles in my stable but nothing as cool as that. Great job.
